Does anyone know what differences there are between diff age front subbys??
IIRC the first spi frames had the engine mounted forward a bit (1/2 an inch???) to make room for the injection setup.
When the multipoints came out did the mounting point move back to make room for the front rad? or is it just the same?

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

Think its just the same, they didnt have a dizzy so that makes some extra space.

SPI and MPI frames are the same manual- engine forward slightly
Pre spi and mpi manual - engine in original position
Pre spi and mpi manual auto - has a wider gap between the engine mounts, you will need spacers to fit a manual and need to drill a new mounting hole on the passenger side of the frame at the front.
There is also the older twin bolt subframe - which i use myself, this one is quite good as it bolts strait to the shell, but i do need spacers as with the auto frame above for a manual gearbox.

Hope this helps

the MIP and SPI front subframes are the same. They mount the engine about 10mm further forward

Thanks, was hoping the two injection ones might have been different, never mind :(
