Hello, i have a small nippon alternator with 3 pins like so http://www.westfield-world.com/img/Denso1.gif i have wired one of the two brown wires from my starter solenoid (on the inner wing) to the post and the other to no 2, the brown and yellow wire is connected to no 1. With the ignition off the alternator starts to get hot all by itself, any ideas? Cheers

Just realised, i should prob connect both fat brown wires from my solenoid to no 3 and then run a seperate switched live to no 2?

The 2 thick brown wires should both go to the threaded fitting. The wire from the charge light (brw/yel I think) needs to go to number 1. A seperate SWITCHED wire needs to go to number 2.

I think your getting a problem because the wire from the solenoid isn't switched and is constantly charging the coil in the alternator? *oh well*

There must be something different between these alternators then as mini alternators always had the battery and switched feed from the same source, confusing huh.
