Just wondering if anyone knows what their inlet temperatures are and at what boost? And what power you got at that temp?

Cheers

Matt

I saw on my Mini at 105kpa (instead of 95 ambient) temperature elevation was 4 degrees. Then I moved the IAT.

I'm just running-in at mo (150 mile so far - wahhaaahay) so very little boost, maybe 2-3 psi. AIT shows 36-39 deg C, just prior to plenum but after an RST intercooler. This was on a 20 deg C day.

Richard.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

The DON rarely goes over 40 deg.

Before I installed an intercooler I saw >70 degC inlet temps on a 28 degree day (my thermostat maxes out at 70 degrees!) It was with 8psi but not sure on the power..

Terry

BTW.. rarely see above 40 degrees now the IC is in..

Without my cooler I was seeing around 60 degrees on VERY low boost (6-7psi) now its about 25 degrees at the same boost. Looks like the IC is doing its job. Im going to take some logs when I get the chance to wind the boost up!

Tom thats good going to keep it below 40 degrees...what boost was that with?

According the famous Honda F1 turbo study the best they were getting was with a 40C air temp. And a rather high fuel temp, around 70C I believe.

16psi, we've never run any more than that.

Hows the mapping going lately, did you manage to get the idle manifold vacuum down with the mods to the plenum or are they still the same.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

All the vacuums seem constant now. Vacuum at idle is about 50kpa.

Mapping is going well untill that damn fuel pressure starts increasing. Ive got the map to a point where all the values up to 5K and 170kpa are only being adjusted by 3/4 on the table but I keep having to turn off auto-tune as soon as the fuel pressure goes up as it knocks the numbers right back then! *oh well*

If I can get the fuel pressure sorted, a couple of hours of driving would have the map sorted. Robert sent me the logworks program, looks like an awesome program. Hopefully then I can get it fine tuned, and maybe increase the timing a little more too.

I managed to do some more fine tuning over the weekend as the new clutch is allowing me to run more boost.

After reading the thread on inlet temps I data logged my drive and at 15PSI the inlet temps were mostly at 35 degrees and once it hit 38 degrees, with an ambient temp of about 27-28 degrees. It just goes to show how efficient the 2wd cossie cooler is with a good air flow through it!

your temps are about the same as mine matty at 15psi, I find the air temp rises approx 1.5 degree for each extra psi of boost

Should be interesting to know your compressor outlet temp and cooler press drop.

All I know isn that the two pipes to and from the I/C are at completely different temperatures(by feeling them after a fast run) and that I have got away with bursts of full throttle at 16 psi -so far.
Guess my engine is not as efficient as the Don then ?,
All this scientific discussion makes me feel pretty inadequate (not for the first time I might add)
As long as it keeps going and makes me smile I dont really want to know too much about temperatures and things because it would only make me worry about them.
