Ignition wise you can either upgrade to the electronic ignition as fitted to the A+ engines, go to an aftermarket electronic system to replace your points such as a Lumenition, or alternatively junk the dizzy altogether and fit a mappable ignition system, such as a MegaJolt. There is loads of info on the forum so have a read up to decide which is best for you.

A standard Metro turbo runs a very crude control module that modulates boost pressure alone. To call it an "ECU" is a bit of an overstatement.

An aftermarket ECU such as a MegaSquirt or an Emerald can control pretty much anything you may desire to control. As for how hard is it, depends how well you understand how it works. It can also be expensive.
