i've been on here for ages and read lots but thought i'd post something (i know its not a turbo [yet])

the car itself spec wise is this

Block
• Block bored +60 thou at Morspeed.
• Block re honed to fit new piston rings. Bores ovality checked.
• All faces resurfaced.
• Chemically cleaned in hot acid dip.
• New corplugs added.
• High capacity oil pump.
• Worn Cam Bearing removed by Simon @ Morspeed and new one added.
• Painted in P.O red (heard this adds 25 bhp)
• Pistons are Hepolite 21251 +.60's with new piston rings from Minispares.
• 10.5:1 compression ratio.
• New Big End and Mains bearing shells. Crank journals and thrust washers measured.
• New crank oil seal added.
• New cam followers.
• Morspeed Phase 3
• New Duplex timing gears.
• Turbo Clutch and Flywheel
• megajolt ignition system.
• New minispares gasket set and seals.
Head
• 12G940 Casting from SPi with water bypass hose.
• Modified by DTR Motorsport to stage 3 spec.
• Bronze valve guides.
• Head checked by Simion at Morspeed and larger inlet valves added to cope with increased displacement.
• 240lb Double valve springs to cope with increased lift of cam.
• Alloy inlet manifold.
• HIF44 carb with K&N filter.
• Payen BK450 head gasket set
Gearbox
• Rebuilt by Guessworks
• Central Oil Pick up pipe fitted.
• Snapped Diff removed and Comp x-pin diff fitted.
• Gear linkage seal kit used to prevent any leaks.
• S/C drops 1:1 ratio

hoping to turbo it as a project (even though i've just got this rebuilt engine on the road) and gather bits over a year and such sourcing/replacing parts cheaply :) and tbh i'm dam looking forward to it *happy*

not sure on power output yet but could be a blast

anyway hi again :)

been doing some reading and research and i think my cr might be to high to get down to a decent level in order to get a decent amount of boost (blocks been decked i think) without using a decompression plate (which i'm unsure off tbh) so may need a new block...anyway its all WIP :) got alot of reading to do and whether a charger or turbo is the way forward *happy*

pic from the weekend better than the other one

Looks good,

the block having been decked should not be an issue, on most std engines the pistons don't come right to the top of the block as they should really do,

I'm personally not a fan of decompression plates, plus you should be able to get the head chambers taken out to lower the compression ratio for not too much cash anyway. Benross on here does head work and can do this.

thanks guys glad you like it :)

my to do list atm is to paint the bonnet as it get some very weird looks at shows atm lol, dunno why *happy* its going gloss black with gloss black wellers also. really hoping it doesn't look to stupid as in my head it looks ok......but that doesn't mean it'll turn out that way haha

i've spoken to BR about the head but i'd originally thought my head had been skimmed so was looking from the perpective of new head but now i think its the block thats been decked i'll enquire to Mr BR with my new situation see what he says

although i wont know i guess until i get it all off and checked it but with only just getting it on the road after 1 1/2 years i'm unwilling to do just now want to enjoy it a bit. plus the girl will kill me *tongue*

i dont like the idea of decompression plates as i'd rather do it properly tbh but really do what to get the compression down for some fun at santa pod for next year :)

i'm reading bits n bobs and my mates are advising me along the way as there more knowledgable than me when engine machanics are concerned.

atm charger seems more simple but turbo seems more fun......also not even tried welding so i'll have to use the mirage kit for even more simplicity

i know they may not be the best pistons but avonbar sell them snippet from there site

"21251R/060 .060 oversize Hepolite for 1275 for 8.8cr £ 164.45"

still kinda doing reading when motivated and i'm getting a new block and if things seem weak i'll replace them if needed and money permits

May i ask whats wrong with them or they just really that crap *oh well*
