Hi all, the car has been dry built for a few years - im now pulling my finger out and getting it all sorted.

i painted it a while back to help prevent rust and its stood up well, but the inside needs doing so im thinking of changing the colour while i do that.

whats the rules for painting a matalic? can it be wet sanded, do i need to adapt my painting stye from a solid colour etc?

cheers, Mark.

As far as I know it can be wet sanded, but go easy on it.
And you shouldnt have to change your style at all.Though if you keep too slow a pace you might end up with too many flakes in the paint.Same goes for too fast a pace.

You dont sand the paint! You can sand the clear coat though!

style stays the same, nice light coats or you may end up with dark patches then loads of clear coat nice wet sand i use 2000 grit, then a nice polish with g3 and some wax, might be worth checking the size of nozlle in your gun generaly use 1.2 for metalix and a 1.4 for solid colours. have used both sizes with good succes though.

love that straight cut scream!!!

All the top bodyshops have stopped wet sanding as far as i know. This is because the water gets into areas that you dont see and when you paint it traps it in and causes future problems. I was told this by a very good bdyworkman. Maybe something to bare in mind.
