Hi guys,

I think that my rod change A-plus 4-syn SCCR box has damaged first gear.

When i drive off in first with out load it sounds fine, but under boost and load it has the usual whine but an additional pulsing whine. Also happens in reverse.

Could I have broken a tooth?

I am in the market for a new gear set, but as i reside in Australia I don't know what gear set to purchase. I have seen the Minisport set and the price is attractive too. Is this kit suitable for a turbo with 160bhp?

Please guys its winter over here and the temps are down, mad turbo weather!!! don't want to miss out on the fun. *frown*

Yep, Minispares kits seem to be the flavour of the month at the moment.

What's the difference between minispares & minisport gear set? Have they been manufactured in a different way? eg, not the right material, or are the minispares ones far superior in quality?

The Mini Spares gear sets at the min seem to be bullet proof I just striped a box this morning off a 1480 full race motor and it is in top condition no sign of wear even the baulk rings are siting low on the synchro hubs from what i gather they are making them with some old rover tooling which amazingly seems to be very accurate how long that lasts is anyones guess

Thank's for the reply guys. But I am going to need to change 1st gear, so would it be advisable to buy the full kit?

dan, i have the mini-its set up ,its been fine enough to run 104 in the quarter so over 160 bhp id guess ,gear change is nice and slick too.

Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM

Who knows. Minispares sold the Tran-X kits before they started making their Evolution sets themselves. These are identical as far as I know. I think Tran-X went belly up and started over again.
