nope its good...

you dont want bare metal under a patch for example, so weld throu primer is great for that.

Weld tru primer is ok at the time of welding, however, with patching the rust will keep on going. no matter.
If rust has to stay away than cut out the old rusty part and weld in the new plate.
Leave 0.8 to 1mm between 2 plates so if you grind them you do not remove the total weld.

You will find it hard to put a coating on the material between the patch and tha original material thats all.

yeh, i use the stuff, seems fine, never had any problems with the welding side of it, dont know how good it is in terms of rust prevention, bit too early to tell. only problem i have is that the nozzle seems to block very easily.

If your nozzle blocks that means that you are trying to weld other material than steel. That means that the weld tru primer is burned off, so no need for this primer then.
Keep your material as clean as ever possible before welding for the best results than after grinding do the primer bit.

my understanding of weldthru primer is for use when spot welding. The paint dosen't stop the current flowing to get the spot heating and does not contaminate the weld. You then get a joint that is painted between it except where the heat was applied for the spot weld.
