Got this email today, possible a load of codswallop, but thought id share it nonetheless...........

Radical new tire design by Michelin. The next generation of tires.

They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show.

These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon.

The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these tires.

This is what great R&D will do, and just think of the impact on existing technology:

A. no more air valves...
B. no more air compressors at gas stations...
C. no more repair kits...
D. no more flats...
SCAN DOWN & SEE.

These are actual pictures taken in the South Carolina plant of Michelin.

Is this the Tweel?

Saw it on a few cars in photoshoots, don't know if anything will come of it as don't the hubs have to be changed if you want to fit them?

Ha, that'll fuck the Chavs and their 30 profile tyres *laughing*

just look how ugly they are on that Audi

Oh and back to less than a 14" rim on a car that size, Where will they put the brakes? Inboard?

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Very old story. Interesting, but still no news on it...

What i find interesting - and the engineers amongst you will agree - is consider if tubless tyres hadn't been invented, and someone (today) came up with the idea of using a u-shaped piece of moulded rubber circumfrentially around a shaped steel rim, and filling it with compressed air, and designing this whole thing so it's be good for 90, 110, 140, 160, etc mph....

Imagine being on the FMEA team on that one...

i work for michelin and have not heard anything about these, i will have to ask around, see if anyone knows any info. we had some weird solid type of car tyres in a year or so ago, they never caught on! suprisingly.
