Just blown my head gasket, rang avonbar and they said they do a group A head gasket but you have to have 1 min counter sunk in your block to fit it. Is there anything i can do to fit this head gasket while i have just the head off. Or is it case has to be done when the engine is in pieces. Cheers pictures be great not to sure where have counter sink aswell.

Having the block machined for a group A gasket is a fairly intricate operation and would need the engine removing and stripping down, and then taking to a machine shop. It is a bit more than simply a countersink.

You can just make it out in the pic below.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

fit a bk450 head gasket and torque the gasket to 55ft pounds ... make sure you torque wrench is not cracking off at a lower figure many peeps on here have fell into this trap compare it with a friends wrench

where has the gasket blown..?? my guess is between 2 & 3 bores

If you are a bit Mechanically minded you could try one of these http://www.ferriday.co.uk/bits/contact.shtml John uses them for his 16V conversions I have used them on two of my Water injected motors which have compression ratio in access of 15:1 don’t get me wrong these are not easy to fit you need to use a special gasket cement I also had the block and head Micro polished JK might offer some more information on them as he has good experience or else just phone Mike he will run you trough the pros and cons.

There's a picture of my block machined for the GP A gasket here, if you can't make it out in Toms pic.

its clear that detonation has caused this and it will happen again and again

no amount of fancy cemented gasket will cure this
next time it may be the pistons that melt! ....what CR are you running and do you have a good intercooler fitted ?

you must fix the cause and not the problem

Yes agree with the above. The BK450 is not a weak link at 15psi, they will take this & much more. There's another problem if you keep blowing gaskets !

I think it could of been over boostin due to boost control left open, but not sure
Intercooler rs turbo, ratio is 8.4:1

been on the rollers was 90 when i went in and he got it to 142.3 but has a flat spot in the pick up whitch is upsetin, but sayin that was half my fault welded the ebow like a tit so it was hard for him to get the dash pot out.

So this head gasket should be ok benross? minispares north? cheers

YES please make sure your torque wrench is up to the job
by checking with a friends wrench *wink*

too many head gasket have failed due to the wrench cracking off
before you reach the torque setting you want, in you case its ...55ft pounds. nothing less

please correct the over boost problem or add MASS octain
