I've had a look and I might be able to help you here. What wiring have you got coming out of the seats? Are the switches built into the seats? Some pics would help.

The switches

The wiring

I think by looking at the wiring the Brown is earth the red/white is power to switch and the black and blue is heaters in seat

these are now for sale if anyones interested, got myself a bargain pair of porsche seats

my guess would be brown live, earth would be through the bracker, the other wires are for heater, and bum sensor

I'd be with Jim. To power the motors and the heaters the live will need tobe pretty beefy - so brown for that one.

One wire for bum sensor output
One wire for triggering heater (via relay?)
Could be something for seatbelt pre-tensioners and/or seatbelt warnings?

Other problem would be these could be using some fancy arse data system to an ECU in the seat, not a simple +12v and ground switching system.

Any idea what year car they are out of Neil? I have all the Audi wiring diagrams here on a software program, but so far the years I have tried don't tally up to the wiring colours you have.

Thus far the wires just feed to the switches, which then in turn feed the motors, nothing fancy. There should be a brown wire 2.5 sqmm that is earth, and a red/white that is 4 sqmm as live, however that must be for a different year of motorised seats.

You should be able to work out the heater wires from measuring their resistance?

The earth you could check by checking continuity with the frame of the seat. They might be bonded together somewhere?

they look like late A3 or A4 sport seats. I've just checked the wiring for mine and have 8 separate wires and 3 multiplugs so no use I'm afraid

The seats look similar to those fitted in my A4 S-Line. The picture would suggest that the seats are manual adjustment in the main, the four way switch on the side opearted the electric lumbar support.

The handle on the right (of pic) operates the forwards/backwards, the one on the left operates the front tilt (knees) and the one on the side is for the height.

If the main functoins are mechanical then I would just bid bollox to the electrickery bits!

You'll probably struggle to remove the airbags without dismantling the seats completely
