just run up my engine for the 1st time in ages...

and having switched to a non verto the 1st differnce is the weight of the pedal... blimy!!

anyways, there seems to be much more noise from the clutch than before (verto). but it goes when the clutch is depressed, its almost like a rattle....

The only other thing is that I have "ventalated" the flywheel housing... could it be that I can just hear noises more easily now??

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Take it you set the idle gear bearings ok?

Shouldnt be any sort of rattle, nothing can really move when the clutch is engaged.

alright alex, i have recently put my 1380 back together, and i have noticed an increase in noise in the clutch/drop gear area, i've put a few holes in the flywheel housing cover too

could make a big difference as normally its all pretty much sealed in??

there is only noise when the engine is running in nutural... and it goes when you engage the clutch.

I'm wondering if its the new holes... there are now 3 2" holes that will let alot more sound out than b4!!

just a quick guess, does it stop if you idle a litle faster, my orion diesel does this, it is the clutch thrust bearing i have been told...

Have you changed the release bearing for the correct diagphram type?

Some of them are a loose fit (very loose) onto a smaller shaft with a clip to hold them on, these can rattle as you describe.

The 'proper' (in my opinion) ones are a push fit onto the shaft and do not rattle.......

Yup I did...

I have the correct push on one...

I got a friend to have a listen and he confirms the noise is transfer gear noise, its not an issue its just louder than normal due to my new found ventaliation!

I have exactly the same probme!!! i have a large hole behind the starter motor letting out the noise. It goes if you rev it higher, and is loudest when idling low with the clutch out. if you solve it please let me know before i change the release bearing/
