hello guys, im haveing problems tonight, im takeing a head apart for a clean up and a little refurb, however im stuck!

ive managed to get all the inlet valves out of a mg metro head but im stuck with three of the valves stuck in.

ive killed two valve spring compressors a styles pickavant one and a laser one.


im stuck for idea short of cutting the valves off im stuck. unfortunately i dont have access to a hydrolic press.

stick a socket over the caps so as that it sits on top of them and then give it a nice tap with a hammer. this should compress the springs and free them up if they are stuck on at all. then try agian.

also, you dont have to fully compress them, just slack enough to get the collets out, if you have sausage fingers like me, use one of those pencil magnets

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

yes whack the tops caps not the valve top with a hammer a few times
fit new collets when done i bet ther badley worn

there about 50p each! from minispares

just be a little carfull wacking the top caps wear Safety glasses dont know how many times I have had collets fly out and hit me square in the mush I would sugest to put a blob of greese or a small bit of rag in the end of the socket to catch the collet if it does fly like zebedy says BOING lol.

Be careful a friend of mine lost an eye doing this and almost lost the second eye watching a mechanic in his dads garage .
