Has anyone managed to remove the runner on the bottom of the window for the winder mech, without resorting to smashing the window up. Lol

Cheers

have you got any room under the window for a screwdriver? you can pry it open from there if your carefull. other than that i could ask our window fitter at work tomorrow but no doubt you will have a proper answer by then.

Automatic centre punch.

Only kidding, dont do this!!! DUH.

If you go down the bottom edge of the window (thickness ways) you should be able to pry it off. This part of the window is very strong.

Back once again like a renegade master

Cool, I'll give that a go. Wasn't sure if they were bonded on for good or not!

No,not bonded,just a
very very tight interference fit.
If the window is outside the door,on the floor, insert a small flat-bladed screwdriver between window and runner and prize gently apart.

Soft faced mallet. Place the mallet against the glass and slide it downwards towards the runner.

The runners are only held in place by friction between the runner itself, the rubber and the window.

I wouldnt try and pry anything as that is a shure way of chipping the glass and opening up the runner so when you re use it, it wont have the same tension to hold the window

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

i use the vice

i wind it in so its a bit wider than the window and then swing the window about so that the vice knocks off the runner

Soak in wd40 and pry the runner off with a screwdriver. The one time i did this i was outside and walking back into the garage managed to catch it on the corner of the garage and it smashed!!! I was gutted!
