Hi does anyone know or recognise what pistons these are without me taking them out? I am told they are +20.

They are in an unrun turbo engine I bought

Any help much appreciated.

Mark

P.S I know the pictures are not the best

Is the area in the very centre of the piston slightly concave?

I think they are machined standard pistons, that concave area in the centre gives it away a bit. I had a set done (that alex has now) and they looked very similar to these.

The bottom of the dished bit is very flat. Only radiused around the edge. The guy I bought the engine from seemed to think they were forged from minispeed? But he never bought them! The bowl part is definetly offset. I havent taken them out as the bottom half of the engine is still sitting on its box. The head gasket was a cometic one supplied fromthe same people. and the piston in the photo is actually at TDC. Quite far down I thought?

hmm, thats very low down for TDC,

I know minispeed did some JE forged pistons that were a very short compression height, this could be some of those.

have a read of this, the dish shape is quite JEish

if these are je's with the short comp height and are an 18cc dish i could be interested if you decide to part with them.

Hhhhmmm. I think it might be the JE ones. One it seems to ring a bell with the guy I bought the engine from and two I was told the engine has custom rods! And I have the original rods in a box of bits that came with the engine.
I bought the engine with a view to s/charging it but I cant see that happening. So mini13 feel free to make me an offer to tempt my decision. and I will probably pull the block off its box at the weekend.

hmmm,

I'm second guessing the JE's now, I think the short height ones only came in 73.5mm,

Pistons have 464993 stamped on the bottom and appear to be completly machined i.e. no casting marks.
