Is this cam a better choice than the MG one for a turbo road going Mini ?

that cam is a superb cam for power
i and many others run this cam
one gent described it as a hungy lion.
and he wasnt wrong!

forget the phase 3 its too radical

the normally aspirated MG cam is my second choice

but iam a fan of the kent 266 thats what i will be trying next.

if you want a phase three cam dont expect much below 5000 but power is balistic upto 8000 revs.

cam is a touchy section, you should first choose you balls, how mad are you, ,if your madness is out of control , a lot of exemples here show you were you'll end.
I would prefer a phase 2 cam (hangry lion one), for high boost application (12 psi and up), it will revel his potential.If used with low boost, it's pointless.
phase 2 is nice on the road, idle finely and will give you as much as 10 hp more at 5500 rpms, at 12 and up pounds of boost.
It does cross the mg n/a cam at 4000 rpms (it's were the lion's jump above the vegetation to attack).Under this point the mg cam have more grunt , it does need less boost to work effectively, and have the bhp it loose at 5500rpms present at 3000 ( on same boost). It does have the same road manners and idling, with more respons on pick up.
An other point is that the phase2 with a small turbo and high boost application give bosst creep, it does increase exhaust volume with an early exhaust event, it does scavenge effectively the cylinder, but exhaust gas are still very hot and so have a bigger volume which give the waste gate some troubles to handle .
Final point is with a middle set up (9 c/r, std gearbox and clutch ,I would stay with 10/ psi, a gt turbo turbocharger, if possible an intercooler and mg n/a cam (and some money have already gone in the rebuild). This is a great set up which is very fuell effective,can sort 120/130 bhp nice on the road, and will beat any n/a five porter.

Fab, I think that I'm not crazy enough to use the phase 2 cam with high boost, I prefer a road going Mini with a strong torque and moderate boost, 120 bhp are a lot for me !
