Do you think i could get away with the old style plates (e.g. Black and Silver ) on a 1991 mini?

Or am i asking for trouble?

Just like the old Aluminium plates better.

Asking for trouble I think.

Although I think things like that all depend on the police officer that stops you, some will over look it while others will book you.

Usually it's just a case of swapping it back and getting a mot station to stamp it, Costs between £5 and £10.

I get away with tiny plates and have had police follow me and stop me without mentioning them.

Just give it a go. Ul only get a 30 pound fine. I got a 30 pound fine for my plaes 3 year ago because they have a mini logo on the edge. I still havent changed them and have been followed by cops many times since then and i havent been stopped. I agree that its all down to the cop who is following you.

I think its best if I go with some regular but aluminium plates then.

Save myself any problems with the old bill then.

Already the car has a carb out through the bonnet and a maniflow race exhaust on it.

Don't need any other attractions for them.

Cheers for your comments

It's a none turbo set-up. The carb a Weber 48 IDA. I must get round to updating my build thread.

Here's a pic of the carb. Without race ram pipes and air filter fitted.

Legally your car has to be made before 1st Jan 1973.
