I know that some of them had the same v6 engine as ford capri etc, but does anybody else know whether the axle is interchangable with a capri? Also did the scimitar have a lsd?

yes and depends which capri model . basicaaly 3.0 and later the 2.8 ford running gear

Everyone knows that instructions only have to be read if the thing doesn't work....

The axle is not capri. It is in fact a Reliant rear axle iirc. They are not kit cars!
