I am thinking of going to the goodwood festival of speed in a few weeks. Anyone else going?? I have never been before and just wondered if anyone has, do they recommend that one day is enough or do you need all weekend? And do you really need to be in a grandstand to see the action or are there enough other vantage points?

Thanks
Luke

I went last year. Apart from the rain it was heaven for petrol heads. Everyone should go there once!
You'll need two days to see it all. Go saturday and sunday, that's what we did.

It's a great day out, well worth going. I recommend going on the Friday as it's not as busy as the other two days usually.

I only went in the grand stand on the revival, and I think it was well worth it, you get a great vantage point of the track.

Was meant to be running a car there this year but the owner has decided not to run it there. May end up doing the revival depending on the clashes with other race meetings.

I'm going.

I would highly reccomend it. Great day out. i don't think that there is anywhere else that lets you get so close to all of the cars and the variety is astonishing.

I'll be there on the Friday for the following reasons:

1) There's less people there
2) It's cheaper
3) It's the same weekend as Avon

I went a couple of years back and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I didn't bother with grandstand tickets, there's plenty of places to watch from if your not in the grandstand and in my view it's better to wander around and see different parts of the track.

Here's some piccy's from the last time I went:

PS the car park tends to be pretty impressive as well.

Yep ive been aswell and you wont find a better weekend full of exotic cars.

Well worth going , and definity somthing any car nut should do once in there life.

We didnt bother with a grand stand either, its usually busy but you can watch nearly anywhere all the way up the track

It's fun if it's been raining previously, the car park turns in to a mud bath *tongue*

We went a couple of years ago - fantastic event. As said the variety of cars and stuff to see is incredible. The low level flypast by the SA Airways 747 was a highlight, and if they are running have a ride in a bowler wildcat as well :)

Personally I think it's worth considering grandstand seats if you are doing the full weekend. For us it was good to have shelter from both the sun and the rain.

Well i have just brought some tickets for the Friday, so hopefully the weather is good and it's not too busy.

Must remember to charge the camera up now.

Matt, come down to Goodwood on the Friday and then on to Avon, that's what I'm doing, well it is if work stops messing me around.
