The 2k primer I use is 4 to 1 (paint to hardener) and about 10-15% thinners but some makes of primer are 3 to 1.
2K paint is virtually always 2 to 1, the reason 2k primer uses less hardener is because an awful lot of the primer is just the filler material.
It will vary from make to make, mine is marked on the tin, but I think 4 to 1 is the most common for a high build 2k primer.

Agree with Rod.

You really need the Data Sheet off the web or from your supplier - particularly as it will also have the spraying temps and curing times - useful for wet on wet applications.

4:1 + 10% usually for 2k Primer.

2:1 + 10% for Base & Clear Coats around door aperatures and tread plates then;

4:1 + 10% for other areas.

Did a 2 year night school course on paint and vehicle refinishing using my minivan as my project !

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

thanks. iv sprayed 2 minis in the past both in different ways. first i sprayed base then cut that back, then clear top.

second i sprayed the base coat in one day, when it was still sticky id put another coat on. laqured it when the paint was still tacky. only problem is that the laquer has split in a few places, i presume from the base not being dry when laquer applied.

whats the best way? both turned out well. the second had a better finish, but then cracked at a later date. cheers.

Dependant on weather, leave atleast 15 - 20 mins between colour coats, then leave for 1/2 hour before clear. This depends on temperature though. Always be sure that the previous coat of colour is fully dry. Before putting the lacquer on, give it a wipe with a tack rag.

Paul

I seriously doubt it!
