feeble came to have a look at my metro today why it was starting running then cutting out he found out why.My fuel pump wasnt switching on on poss 2 but only when i was turning it over thus using that fuel then cutting out he changed a wire round i had on my oil pressure sensor and it worked must have somthing to do with that .But my engine still smokes really bad only when its cold just had it fully recond not even done 1 mile all cylinders have good comp 170 on each but i did wash the bores with petrol by mistake do you think this may have damaged an oil ring or maybe it could be a valve stem or seal its only doing it on cylinder 4 tho any ideas mutch apreiciated cheers lee

o/t but why is it always cylinder s 3 or 4 that go 1st on a-series engiens in my experience??

meh.

anyways it could be that the person who built the engine mashed the oil controol ring on that cylinder. first thing id do is replace the valve stem seals, se if that makes a diference. if its definatly only one cylinder chances are it isnt the turbo.

turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

If it is a new engine that has had the bores honed and new piston rings then it probably will smoke a bit when cold until the rings have bedded into the honed surface of the bore.

If I were you I would do 500 miles or so with it and then reassess the situation to see if the rings bed in and reduce the smoking, after all there is no point ripping apart a freshly built engine if you don't have to.

you shouldn't run your engine in the garage anyway! Carbon monoxide poisoning is worse than 40 a day (cigs that is)

it was just a wiring problem, hes put a carb and manifold on to get it running and it still smokes, so it wasnt the turbo for definate
