the cooper tank noise

my cooper tank sounds like it pumps in bursts, the guage is never constant, eg just goes on off on off on off on off between 0psi and whatever psi forever. the noise is whirring on and off also.

its just wired straight to the battery.

well something is amiss then!!!

Try wiring a small lamp in parallel with the plug at the top of the pump, and fed it into the cabin. If it flickers as the pump goes on and off, it's a bad supply. If it doesn't it's probably the wires inside the tank...

mines jsut a constant "buzz" as such once it gets primed up. My tank is nearly empty as well so i guess that makes it a lot louder.

Something does sound amiss somewhere.

its a constant on off though whirring away not a loose wire sound.

Ive taken the fuel regulator off now, so when i put it back on ill have a play with the tank. One more thing i was thinking of last night, is the feed for it comes from the same live feed as the coil is taking. Im going to put it on a relay, but could the coil be making it make the on off?

It does seem to pump constant when the pipe is off and pumping into a petrol can, just flowing in, but with a guage in place the guage reads 0,whatever,0,whatever,0,......

wiring in with the coil should make no difference at all.

avonbar site lists them at about 20 quid i think so im gonna have to order a new one

Regulator, pump, battery?

rung them up today, the guy thts normally there is on holiday, but the nice lady there told me they havea few different ones.

Including VAT, there are a few different ones.

At ?23, there are two, one for 1/4" fuel line and one for 5/16" fuel line.

Then she told me there are also filter king ones which were arround ?29 - ?32.

Without the chap being there she didnt really know what to recommend so i was hoping you guys could help me. I have an inline filter for the 8mm rubber lines ive run through the car already to the cooper tank.

Get the one that is suitable for turbos!!!

those filter king ones arent. You need a rising rate regulator made by malipassi (i think thats how its spelt!)
