got about an hours worth of video i took from avon yesterday but don;t have a clue how to edit it.

Anyone recommend a decent program that will let me chop it up into seperate runs so i can stick it on youtube? It's a .vob file at the minute but i guess i can convert that to .avi or something similar.

You've probably got Windows Movie Maker already on your computer, that'll do for basic stuff.

I also use Movie Maker, its pretty easy to use, lets you drag and drop, shorten clips and add titles etc.

Yep agreed movie maker is handy for simple editing.

If you want to dable a bit more, fine an 'ahem' copy of Adobe Premiere

If you have a DVD camcorder there slightly more tricky to get the content off

A good program for converting .vob files into useable stuff is 'WinAVI'

Or sometimes even just renaming the .vob to .mpg works as DVD is really just MPEG2 video

i use adobe premiere. but as said above, movie maker is quite a good package to get some good basic transitions etc going

well i'm having a pain in the arse time with all this.

winavi wouldn't convert it to avi so now its a wmv. Trouble is its all one great big 40 odd minute video file and i need to chop it down into runs.

Just got myself a copy of that adobe premier cs3 so about to try and figure out how that works.

fuck it, i give up for tonight.

i can select the 20 odd seconds i want to cut out and save as a seperate video but i can't figure out how to actually do it with either movie maker or adobe premier. i know its going to be blatantly obvious but i feel like a tool so i'm going to bed, lol.

adobe premiere does take some getting used to. There are plenty of tutorials to get you started on youtube and on the web.

I seem to use these to get me started and then have a play about.

Nick - When you export a clip from adobe premiere the file size will be HUGE. You will need another program called TMPGencoder.

that will aloow you to place your exported avi into it and convert into an mpeg and have a massivly reduced file size of very high quality. (you can customise your output settings in adobe / takes a bit of playing around to get the best quality)

Hope i havn't rambled on too much and that is of some help to you *indifferent*

clock tower with a sniper rifle

I have final cut pro, a bit over the top for me, don´t understand how it works really but managed to cut down a movie and export it to a more legit size, as a bonus it looks seriously cool on the screen *hehe!*
