crumbs that was a long title

ok im using an aldon yellow with ignitory thing and a side entry cap from a maestro

which position is no.1? i cant quite remember but i think im using the one by where the ht lead goes in but the next clockwise position around, i.e. say the ht lead input was 12o'clock im using 1 o'clock for no1 cylinder

does it still use the 1-4-3-2 firing order?

did that make any sense at all? cheers

The Meastro cap is 1-3-4-2.(fact)

I always try to get 1 at 1/2 o'clock position.

Usually, the '1' lead is the one closest to the vacuum advance unit.
It doesn't matter one bit however - you just put the leads on wherever they fit in the correct order, then move the dizzy drive to suit!

So can you get a side exit cap and arm that fits the mk2 electronic dizzy then?
The one i purchased from minispares ages ago was around 1/2" larger diameter than the previous dizzy cap... (i think the mk1 dizzy is a larger diameter cap then the mk2)

So what rotor arm is needed on these?
Iain - are you going to add a suitable arm/cap to the turbominis shop - or at least a part number???

The mk1 dizzy suits a meastro 1600 cap, they are not cheap, mine was ?16 ish some years ago.

You may may have to modify where the clips clip onto or use longer clip..it is easy stuff as i did it!

So unless you have the mk1 dizzy, you're screwed though....

possibly unless we can find another cap. Ill ask while im there. they are really good at finding info out for me and helping out.

Have to say id prefer a later dizzy as the install is neater than having that module seperate.

sauber you must have the later dizzy with the module on the side.

The mk1 dizzy with the remote ignition pack has it's advantages as the pack does'nt get in the way if you don't run an oil cooler as it often fouls the oil link pipe.

GDC150 is the flat cap for the MK1 dizzy. Rotor GRA2130; also works with GRA2114 rotor. I am using this because I have the Metro turbo front rad. MK2 dizzy is a shade longer, so can't be used with a front rad on a round nosed Mini.

i drilled 2 holes through the cap, and then some through the dizzy as there were some aluminium areas doing nothing, tapped it on and fixed with 2 screws a la metro style

well that was the plan, but i picked up the wrong drill bit and did the holes to big, but i got it sorted in the end

i think its from a maestro 1600, could be wrong though, and yep its damn expensive

The side cap in question is the old Maestro O series one you need to change the rotor arm as well. You will also need to gently cut off the original mounting lugs and file the top with a small slot that will engage the dizzy clips, we used all this type of system on my Miglia in 1996 with a front mounted rad.Saves 1.5" dependant on engine position.
