Im going to do an engine rebuild soon and its my birthday on sunday so going to treat myself to a decent torque wrench. What ones do you use and what torque range do they have?

Will I need to buy two, i guess so it seems that some parts need to be about 150 lb/ft. Its possible to borrow one from work to do the ones which needs to be torqued higher so i might just buy one which goes upto 73 lbft

thanks

Teng tools as they offer good aftersales service - recently recalibrating mine FOC or Halfords Professional if not worried about aftersales service

I have a Teng 150/210. It's range is from 40-21 Nm (30-150Ft. lb).

In reality this isn't low enough for the diaphram retaining bolts, but I set it on minimum and have no problems.

Having said this, I have just contact Teng as after tightening the flywheel centre bolt at 150 Nm the ratchet has developed a tight spot.

I think mine is the non calibrated version of that, so I only paid about £45

I have a Snap-on which is due to the bin as its getting on, and a draper, dont rate the draper much, i have heard the Brittool ones are gooduns. make sure what ever you get when not in use you wind the handle right back to take the presure off the spring or it will give incorrect readings bro.

I changed from Britool to Norbar and to be honest I wont be going back they are fantastic a very accurate system for setting and a very nice positive click when the required torque is met. I have had CAT tool, Snap-off, Weller, Draper and Teng and out of the lot Norbar are the best I just invested in my favorite one yet which it is a 1/4 inch torque wrench when it arrives I post a pic it goes from 4Nm to 30Nm how cool is that lol.
regards,
Paul.
for anyone who is intrested
