It's an A series but can you guess what car it's fitted to?

There's a free beer in it for who ever come up with the best reason behind this conversion and another beer for who ever can come up with the most comical reason.

well he has spent alot of time on it and looks like a good job but....... yeah why???? you can tune a smart engine up never be fast but lost less work for about the same power if not more.... i could understand somthing like a 2ltr zetec or somthing. |

Did a mini drive into the back of the Smart and he thought he would leave it there, as it was less hassle.

why do you turbo your engines instead of putting motor bike engines into the front of your cars?. because the work involved in turboing an engine is alot less than the work invovled in an engine swap and it keeps the car as it was designed to be (if you can see what i mean) the point being made was if you are going to go through that much trouble of converting an a smart car to use a different engine then why use one that was designed some 40 years previous. yes people know the engines and we all like them but if i (and im sure others) were going to do an engine swap on a vehicle, especially a modern one, i wouldnt be going for an engine designed some 40 years previous! you dont see engine swaps in a mini using a model T engine..... |

Hey give the guy some time! I am sure this conversion is in its early stages and he is trying to get it all up and running before he fits all the turbo goodies he has lined up for it. He will soon be posting on here. I know as it thinhk he posted on the skyline forum i was once on |

Exactly, but you will find that the A-series has been around much longer than the mini, more like 60 years (think morris minor and its 60th aniversary this year, and it wasn't the first car to use it I don't think). It is all very well saying, "its a challenge", "its different", but the end product will be so much less then it could be. As i have said before engineering for engineering sake is a waste of time. If there is a valid reason for doing it, like maybe it avoids the conjestion charge (I know it doesn't) then it would be worth the trouble. So what it the reason, apart from "its a challenge", "its different"? http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk

WHY? What a waste of time. I would rather fall off a really tall building and land on a bicycle with no seat. 1/4 Mile 14.3secs 96Mph Terminal 10psi of boost.

Blatently he has a moaning nagging woman in the house, thus he can spend lots of time on his project, and then when its fixed he can spend lots of time resetting tappets and rebuilding gearboxes.
