The alloy knockoffs are cheap, functional, but heavy and ugly. It just depends what you want out of it. On 17th Nov, 2014 Tom Fenton said:

I've compared a spun alloy one and a minisport type and there is a huge weight difference between them. The minisport type being much lighter. Plus these have a grease nipple.

the big difference is in the cone seat , the alloy knockoffs having a flat platform wich isn't designed correctly, the minisport (minispares too) having a nice curved seat platform that does increase the stifness as the cone
