as the title, how difficult is it to make some radious arms out of tubing or box-section?????

they'd use the standard stub axles & radious arm pin&bearings

has anyyone else done it, i'm mulling it over as an idea!!!! in my little head as a cheapo route to lightweight arms?

any opinons, i kniow its proboly the most stupid idea i've ever had *happy*

I think it all depends on what springs you are using. If you use a coil over set up then I think it is an easy job as the arm has little stress. However if you use the rubber doughnuts then the are is quite stressed and making arms for this is more difficult.

yeah they'd be for use with coilovers ben, no trumpet mount

just wondering if the seams in tubing would affect the strength i know rollcages (good-ones) use seamless tubing, also would the grade off metal be an issue or would mild steel tubing or box section be enough for the job

there is someone that makes them out of box section (i think) is it zakspeed or something but they are £300 on quid & i think thats a bit much

or is it worth my time/effort? i'll have to measure some sapare arms i have, i think the stub axle is in line (horizontal) with the main pivot pin is'nt it

must admit they look blummin loverly! if i had the £ i'd have a set of them in a shot,

my idea was fitting the radious arm repair kit to tubing of the correct size

mike coman of practicle classics bought some for£300 that were made from square steel tubing? cant remeber ythe maker now though

i'm not sure if i even have the skill to make them, i can cut & weld & measure but my accuraceey is a little lacking!
