Following on from my last post about the condition of the bores i have noticed that the pistons are stamped +.03" 71.35 i was told when i bought the car that the engine is a 1293.. would the markings represent this? as i would have expected +20 thou or something similar.

Thanks, Mark

i am no expert by any stretch of the imagination but i am led to believe that 1293 would be + 0.020 at 71.13 as you say. so having 0.03 71.35 perhaps it has had a hone before?

do they look like orignal markings or something that someone has stamped on at a later date? could be someone being nice/clever and stamping them when they have honed it for future reference???

0.30 pistons. You've got a 1302 there *wink* Hone it to 0.40 and get some proper pistons.

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

Cheers - think thats the best idea, just more expensive. But the block needs a hone (at least) so im stepping up to 0.40

Excellent idea! Have it properly machine honed to 0.40.
