Oh $hIT! Ok, just found Toms thread on the HIF44 rebuild... in this pic you see the nylon washer on the outside... looks like I have the seal and nylon washers on backwards :( 1132cc Turbo ~120 bananas ATW - Fun Fun Fun

ok, so I fixed the seals - im an idiot... anyway, thats corrected.

Could you have distorted the butterfly when you welded (?) up the pop-off valve. When you say it looks like a perfect seal are you just looking at the pop-off valve, because the butterfly may no longer be a good fit in the carb body if it distorted with the heat. Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ??? |

I meant the butterfly looks perfect. Bronze soldered it, not welded - sorry should have said that earlier.

Did you seat the butterfly properly - ie barely nip the screws up, then open and shut the butterfly spindle a few times, then tighten the screws with it shut?
