All houses are full of bodges. The decorating will never end, but a big push now will get it to somwhere reasonable. TBH I quite like decorating a new house. Removing all traces of the last owners tastes and attempts at style, it makes the house yours. The quicker you do it the sooner you will call it home.

I felt the same.

We took 2 weeks off to in April get ours done. 1st week to do bedroom and kitchen, 2nd week to do the bathroom and living room.

We finished the kitchen last week!

Just keep at it, it will be worth it. (That's what I keep on telling myself)

In the 13's at last!.. Just

Learn to live with it like it is.

By the time you get around to painting every room, it's time to start again.
At least with my 4 boys it is.

Shane,

do one room at a time - that way at least you look back at the finished article.

As for bodges, unfortunately thats seems to be all you find when you first start on a new place. Blitz in now and it will soon be done and all yours!

I remember when we bought our place, when we looked in the spare room, it turned out the previous owner had painted round the furniture!

Round the furniture? That's a new one to me!

Take it easy, one room at a time and it is definitely worth it. Don't settle right into the room until it's done because it's so much harder afterwards.

I say from experience as I've just been doing the nursery, we hadn't done anything to our spare room except filling it with techy gadgets in the two and a half years we've been here!

I viewed one house where the owned had done the skirting board round the furniture. It went along the wall until it met a freestanding wardrobe and stopped until the other side. Needless to say I didn't buy.

Im going between two rooms at the moment, while waiting for paint to dry, need to get in pretty sharpish as im still paying for where IM living at the moment, cant afford rent and the mortgage. Im just getting fraustrated as Im not getting on as I hoped. Not doing anything fancy at the moment, Just Magnolia as all the walls are pretty shocking. The house was an ex rented property and niehter the landlord or tenenat wanted to spend any cash so its all very 1980's, NICE!

I get the keys to my new house on 6 August (hurray, a proper garage again at last!)

Lots to do to it, giving myself 6 months to get downstairs done, then start on upstairs.

In total (including halls and landings) there are 16 rooms to decorate.

16 rooms - does that include the east and west wings and the servants quarters as well?!

Well obviously I haven't included the servents quarters, why the fook would i want to decorate them? They'll get what they're given and if they don't like it, there's plenty more willing servents in the sea (or Poland as I like to call it)

Having lived in 13 houses/flats over the years,my advice is -do the lounge LAST,otherwise you'll be tempted to go and sit in it instead of cracking on.

I reckon that's about right, it's the room most people see so you don't feel as compelled with the bedrooms and stuff.
