Arno, that a good idea. I'll have to take some better pics of it soon, with my better camera, they should then print out ok.

Justin, at least with neons one doesn't get the feelling that any near by rubber hosing is about to melt! *wink*

I'm curious, how long after you came to a stop did you take the picture.I didnt realise that they could get that hot.
I had a close call the other week when I came off the motorway to see smoke billowing from under the bonnet. My turbo oil feed pipe had developed a tiny pinhole and had sprayed the entire engine bay in a fine layer of oil.No doubt if the turbo had been anywhere near as hot as yours It would have been BBQ time in my minivan.

Hell Justin, yes sounds like a lucky escape:), I no that feeling, One Big TIP I could give people is to not have any plastic pipes, boost gauge oil gauge hoses ect any where near the turbo.

I'll tell you why, early in my build I was down south end, and after a drive*wink* things must have been very hot under there as someone pointed out that there was smoke poring out of the inner wing. shti I thought! on opening the bonnet after spraying the whole front end in white power from a fire extinguisher which mist the fire LOL, I ended up blowing it out, what that was, was the oil gauge pipe must have just touched on the turbo, it melted it and put oil on there making the smoke and fire.

any way the pic was taken about 1 min after the hard drive, I find my turbo really does stay that colour for a little while, and it's normally the motorway type driving that does it.
