I'm looking into getting an innovate AFR gauge kit. I can't decide between the DB ($290 on ebay) gauge and the XD-16 ($400 on ebay).
As far as I can tell, the only differences are:
1. The fact that the XD-16 comes with 16 options for face/bezel setup
2. The XD-16 can be used for AFR, temp or pressure.

I will only be using it for AFR and wouldn't be bothered spending an extra $110 to get a fancy looking gauge. Is there any other differences I need to know before buying.

I think the XD16 uses the serial digital signals where the DB uses analog.

I am just using the good old analog gauge (lloks like they have discontinued that, there is now a "G2" stepper motor gauge) as it fits in with my other 60's style gauges and my eyes are not digital!! Its absolutely fine..

I have got a DB gauge but to be honest i dont like it! I find it is far too fluttery when comming onto boost, I dont know if it is faster my older tech edge unit but i prefer that it is a lot more stable with its readings. Hwever i have been looking into the LM1 unit as i have heard better things about this! Graham goode racing sells the innovate kit at around the same sort of money as the ebay prices. The DB gauge is analogue as Tel says Ron

As far as I could see the LM-1 is just a O2 gauge with bells and whistles, i.e extra datalogging abilities. Why not just get the SS-I4 data input module and add it to the LC_1 (presuming thats what you have..seems to do the same thing?? its only $129

Only thing missing would be the ability to log onto the onboard memory, you would need to take your laptop..

I'm just going to wait for the Megajolt update that will allow it to log the O2 output within the Mj software

The analogue gauges for the Innovate stuff look nice, and would damp any oddities with fuelling. Although the sacrifice may be accuracy and response time.

Where do you have the sensor mounted ?

The DB gauges are just glorified voltmeters.....you can do the same with a rectangular LCD panel voltmeter for around a tenner off ebay.

I was just thinking the same thing. Although with the V4 you can add an aux. input. But you can only add boost pressure or O2 for the data logging. Not both though.

Thanks for the info lads. I think I may go with the XD-16 as it's digital signalling. Maybe this would solve the irractic readings that Star Mag is having

Datalogging isn't a major concern of mine though, so I think the LM-1 would be somewhat wasted on me. I just want accurate real time readings for rolling road work and peace of mind

I managed to get the unit cheap as part of a group buy so thought it was worth a go! The sensor is just before the flexi join and dont think thats the problem as its ok with my other unit. I didnt realise that megajolt would be updating for the o2 sensor, as you say it may be worth waiting for this in reality all i want to do is log afr and revs maybe boost eventually!

Well it doesn't strictly allow O2 datalogging but with V4 you can add 1 auxiliary input to be logged.

I chose the NGK Powerdex instead of the Innovate. Cheaper, wideband, dash display, analog output. The NGK sensor crosses to something common, I think a VW Golf sensor (have to look it up) but anyway nothing exotic.

I thought they claimed it came with an NTK sensor ???

Does it just come with the same Bosch sensor the rest of them use ??

He is also talking about adding that aux input function to the V3 as well.. As you can program the second analog output I thought maybe 1.0v=AFR10 1.4v =AFR14 and so on, it may make it easier to read on the log??

Guess I shoud read up on the V4 and find out..

Is it only the LC-1 that has an additional programmable output? As if it wasn't programmable it would be a right pain to read off the log, as you say

I had a look at the V4 in PaulH's place. I will NOT be buying it in kit form. I couldn't even see where to solder the components as they are so small !

The LC-1 has 2 analog outputs, both are programmable. I can't imagine that the LM-1 is not the same..
One is used for the analog meter, the other is free so I plan to use it for the Aux input.

Hers an example on how to program it....
