hi, iv asked before, but cant seem to find the post via search. tomorrow i will be drilling and tapping my cylinder block for 11 stud fitment.

to confirm, is it 3/8 unc tap that i need? what size drill bit would be best? also on the water pump side, how deep can i go? think i remember 50mm?

anyone else have any tips on doing this job? many thanks

yes 3/8 unc,

although usually the thermostat end is a smaller stud and thread, 5/16 UNC iirc
but i have fitted 3/8 stuff there before, just a bit trickierfitting the rocker cover.

water pump end i asume you mean 10mm??!!

when i have done them i have droped on an old 11 stud head, spotted through with a snug drill then whiped it off and piloted from there with a pilar drill.

drill size wise try an 8mm and see if you can get a tap into it, i think the ideal size is about 8.3mm
