Sorry, I'm sure this has been covered but i couldnt come up with anything from the search.

I have gotten some advice from turbodave on using a GT15 or GT17 rather than the T 3 for a number of reasons. The only problem is that no one Stateside is familiar with these turbos. Some folks have recommended a G14 or G16 from a turbo Eclipse but i'm not sure that this is a suitable unit for my engine. Are there any other generic turbos that are suitable for a well built metro turbo? I'm basically only going to be driving the car with an occasional visit to the track so I do need more drivability, quick spool up and little lag, rather than tons of boost.

I will be moving the turbo to over the clutch housing so size isnt an issue really and I would prefer an external wastegate. Can anyone recommend a nice external wastegate also?

Thanks,

-james

well the GT series you mention is the right side of the T3 at least!

What you need to do is try and source the compressor maps for these units.
For sure, the GT17 is the more likely candidate!

Thanks again Dave,

I'll have to do some homework and find out what will be a suitable replacement thats readily available over here. I'm not sure the people I have spoken to will know the compressor size of the turbo's they recommended so I may have to dig deeper than I have been.
