Do you think thats a lot then?? We think thats quite good considering the amount of time and machining thats involved. Not forgetting the bearings, Cam and oil feed. Edited by AV-R Technologies on 23rd Jul, 2008. |

I think it is a lot of money compared to the gains it might give. It would double the cost of my engine (not including head and box) and it certinally wouldn't double the bhp.

what % bhp gain could you expect from this? It's more a reduction of losses rather than a gain in BHP. Very small numbers at a guess. Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

Yes - Miglia guys will definately go for this. I understand they off-set bore the cams to keep the correct tension on the timing ger without resorting to friction adding devices like tensioners. So if you're already prepared to offset, it's not a significant cost add I imagine. On 17th Nov, 2014 Tom Fenton said:

out of curiosity, how could you definitively measure the difference in friction betwen this and the standard bearing? "Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun"

you could get 2 built engines, put the pistons at half mast, take the cam drives off, fit a 12v motor (something like a big cordless drill) and then see how much current each draws to spin it at the same RPM?

so you can treat it just like a difference in resistance? "Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun"
