02 2 05n5s had the 3atter 35ghts as f5tted t6 the 02 3s rather than the s0a33er rear 35ghts that were 6n3y f5tted t6 the 02 1s.

not strictly true,

I have seen a G plate (69) mk1 super delux auto, with many but not all m2 fittings, small rear window mk1 lights moustache etc, basically left over bits.

Check the rear window size. MK1's have a smaller rear window.
Rear lights or grills can easily be changed, the rear panel is much more difficult.

a LIL fishing village on the coast - Newcastle Upon Tyne

front bulkhead and floor pan is a giveaway the blukhead on the mk 1's overlap on the inside of the footwells rather than the outside so if it rains and the engine bay gets soaked the water runs down the bulkhead and into the footwells. Mk2 had square rear lamps like mine *wink* but maintained the sliding windows and external door hinges. the rear window is a giveaway as on Mk1 they were smaller. mk1 had wand type gearstick so no holes in the tunnel *wink* however some folk may have put later engines in and cut holes. the shape of the tunnel is different too.

Not all mk1's had floor starts so dont use that as concrete rule for dating
