I have a very simple/stupid question…kind of feel dumb asking.

I am getting ready to install my engine, however I have no clue where all the mounts and stabilizers go. I bought the car with the engine already pulled and probably with half the parts to make it whole again. I am pretty sure I am missing brackets and bars…just don’t know which ones. The shell is a 67 Austin mk1 and the engine is a 1098 with a manual gearbox, if that changes things.

I was hoping that part catalogues or the books I have would have shed some light but they don’t…I guess they assume people know what they are doing…

If anyone is willing to post pictures of how the mounts get installed and the brackets required, I will owe them many beers!

Just about to do a trial fit of mine (before final welding of bulkhead box) so here you go...

Alloy adaptor on left end of gearbox, note three studs/nuts and one countersunk bolt.

Steel bracket for engine mount and radiator

With engine mount and radiator - note the earlier radiator mount is different to this one.

At the other end, engine mount straight onto clutch housing cover (WOK)

The two holes each side in the subframe where the engine mounts go should be obvious.

Stabiliser threaded holes in end of head

Stabiliser on a RHD model, presumably the bulkhead bracket is different on a LHD as the master cylinders wont be there.

Later models have another stabiliser at the bottom of the engine but your subframe won't have the required plate welded to it.

Hope that helps.

weld the nuts to the engine mounts, this will save you loads of time and some of the skin off your knuckles :)

Rod, that is AWESOME!!!! I could not have asked for better pics… Time to search the cardboard boxes, but I am pretty sure I am missing that big bracket that mounts to the front of the engine. We will see...

I hope you find it in your box then, otherwise, unless you can get a secondhand one,

In the UK, list price (Moss Europe) is ~£90 (sterling) but there is one place selling them at ~£20.
