In a round nose mini, does the bonnet supports need to be cut/removed or replaced ???

If they do has anyone got any pictures of the underside the their or someone elses bonnet.

Thanks

Tom

You'll be lucky to get away without removing a bit of the "X" brace. Both 8v twinks I've done so far have been clubbies which fit without bonnet mods

If Carling made Mini engines
it would probably be like this one!

I had to cut mine out. The centre of the cross brace touches the front middle section of the cam cover. I just cut mine as close as I could to the corners.

I have taken extra measures to try and get away without removing the cross brace, but I am not sure if it will be enough, will have to wait to get the engine in the car *tongue*

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

matty - any chance of a picture of the underside of the bonnet just so i can have a look.

I know Miniminor63 had to remove the X alltogether.

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

Just imagine the bonnet without the cross brace, and only the corners with the hinge brackets left on *wink*

I cut all mine out, but the bonnet is bendy as hell without it. Should be able to get away with cutting less out, but I couldn't be arsed messing around with it.... just wanted to get it going and was planning to put a carbon/glass fibre one on.

As I discovered today the head end plate also just slightly rubs on the bonnet above the inlet pulley. A slight tilt on the bonnet would sort this though.
