Running in my Twinky engine and the water temperature fluctuates between 80-90 degC. Got an 82 thermostat in with a small hole drilled in it to get the water to flow out of the head and into the thermostat housing.

Any thoughts why it's not stable?

Cheers,

Nick.

if you are using that one hole as the bypass i would drill a few more.

Yes that's all I'm using as a bypass. I had a bigger hole in the last one I had in and it ran at 70 deg when moving and 85 deg when still. I thought from that I was getting too much water bypassing the thermostat as it never got up to temp when moving????

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Matty,

Does that run a bypass or does all the water flow through the thermostat?

I've got a home made remote housing with no bypass so I drilled a hole in the thermostat to get the water to flow a little.

Cheers,

Nick.

Its got 1 inlet 2 outlets and basically a shuttle valve. When it cold it goes one way when its hot it goes the other!

When its cold the water still circulates around the engine but bypasses the rad completely, when open it goes via the rad.

Im running an electric pump and didn't want to restrict the flow at all when the thermostat was closed, this way it stays constant. *wink*
