i have a metro turbo engine to go into my mini i am currently buying the things i need at the moment im after a starter motor as the engine i got hasnt come with one


can anyone tell me the differnce between pre engaged and the other type

how can i tell which one my engine needs

can i get an up rated one for a turbo or will a mini one do.

and any other info that could help wolud be great.

it all depends which ring gear your flywheel has

if its a verto style clutch, its most likely the modern pre-engaged

if its the old pre verto, its likely an inertia.


and then again if its an aftermarket flywheel, it could be either....

Pre engaged has the solenoid on it...inertia has a seperate solenoid, normally on the inner wing.

Count the teeth on the ring gear:
107 teeth would be a Inertia stater
129 teeth would be a Pre-engaged starter
