Anybody using them?

I have just installed some and they are riding very high. I expected this to some degree but I have my adjustable cones wound all the way up and the car is still sat very high. How quickly will they settle, I plan to use the car for track day only so it wont get much chance :)

They are seated correctly etc

Any tips appreciated

Cheers

Slowly. After a few years, I still have my hilos wound down fully and the ride height is still up a fair bit. Next time I'd fit used cones with hilos and wind 'em up.

Bugger off, I'm getting there.

Why not just cut down your hilos to allow you to correct the ride height .

Sounds like a bloody good idea! Why didn't I think of that.

Old cones are very stiff. I have a set of pre 64 (harder rubber) cones which are settled and they have almost no give in them at all. They made the car handle like it was on rails, most of the travel was in the tyres. I replaced them for some reason and haven't got around to having them out again.

Bugger off, I'm getting there.

I had to modify my hi-los to make them go lower.

Thanks chaps.

Will what ride height did you settle on? If you have the sill lip to ground measurement that would be great. The way it looks now I would me machining loads off the cone, maybe 3/4 inch?

might be less than you think the car will drop 3 times whatever you take of the cone (for front susp)

the sill height depends on tyre size really. but my front bottom arms are set level at rest.

This is below the bumpstop level. For the road car the top arm is 5mm below the bumpstop.

And as above 3mm will lower the front around 1", this isn't a fixed value as the top arm travells in an arc, so as you go lower you need to adjust more and more.

iirc, I shortened mine by 10mm. I have original ripspeed hi-los and I was happy that there was enough thread left to support the car, you need to check this on whatever hi-los you have.

also, I have no locking nuts on.

I thought it was 1:3 on the front and 1:5 on the rear. I took about 5mm off of mine and its pretty low now even with the locknuts.

I run my wheels concentric in the arches. I've also got flat hilo lands so that the spring rate is more exponential. It's pretty stiff.

Bugger off, I'm getting there.
