OK , who really knows turbo`s??

ok then my turbo now makes a whirrling noise , though it was caused be lose of oil and the bearings running dry , i have not yet got a low pressure warnimg light.Took the turbo off it turns freely and there is no play at all in the shaft.
But what did find is that the bolts holding the 2 half moon plates in place were loose or finger tight and by loose i mean they had worked there way right out , and up against the turbo housing .
with hindsight the car was finding it hard to make boost at goodwood so noise might have been the two parts of the turbo being loose.
any one esle seen or had this .

if i remeber rightly they sould have locking tabs on them shouldnt they perhaps thaps y they came lose

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Just get stuck in with your Dremmel maybe??

it was making the noice on idle before mark, so its easy to test. Stick it back on, and see what happens

i`ll do the bolts up tight first , then put it back on??

the sound is the wheel and the housing, take it apart and look for damage.

ok then , been down and tightened bolts up and put turbo back on , noise is much less but its still there , so tomorrow i`ll change for another one.

if they were loose, it'll have cocked over, and prob damaged the compressor blades...

I see 'Bodge-it 2' is living up to the name....
