I am finalising my turbo Mini (pics of the whole restauration and build will follow soon)!

But.... I need to remove the studs from the exhaust manifold (manifold to turbo) to be able to flatten the manifold to turbo joint. The studs are really tight, I ve already tried WD40 for a few weeks and heating the manifold, but no luck...

Any ideas??

Thanks!

yeah thats your best bet mate.

something like this:

i would probably advise something of good quality with things like this though besuse they will give a better grip on the studs.

Warwick.

2 stud :S you mean lock 2 nuts locked together and undo? works well before for me..if you dont require the stud again obviously put a nut on there and weld it on and undo that way, obviously no chance of nut slippage then

David.

Yep 2 nuts locked together, plenty of localised heat (only heat around the stud and not the stud itself). *wink*

Thanks for all the info. My neighbour happened to have a stud extractor. With a lot of localised heat we finally got them out without damage to the studs or manifold.
