Have you got thr fuel supply connected to the carb correctly? I once piped it to the anti run on by mistake and filled the carb and inlet and plenum with fuel.

Have you got the fuel pressure set right? Is the float set right in the carb?

Have you got the fuel pressure set right? Is the float set right in the carb? I could check. i've never looked at this before. You could be right, as ive just went down to have a look. And there is also fuel coming from the gasket on the carb side. I know how to adjust the fuel pressure. But i dont have one of those Gunsons Lo Gauge Vacuum Testers. Could i do the same with my boost gauge, which is a psi gauge ? It's a spare one :) If so. what can i do about keeping my fuel pump running. As before i put my new fuel pump in. it would run straight of the ignition. but this one only comes on ones the cars turning over for few seconds. hmmm, guess i could get the missus to keep turn it over (with out it starting of course) while im checking the pressure.? This is where i have the fuel connected to, so i know that's right. The other ones blocked. Mr Flanigan's old carb.. Look how clean i made it mate lol
Anyway. so do you have to set the float up in some way then ? I've built a good few carbs now,and all i've done is assemble them no problems. Cheers Tom :)

Not sure if this relates, but I have a vague recollection of a similar problem. It was to do with the rebuild kit having a duff gasket between the carb and plenum. Not all the holes were punched out, and this caused the problem you describe. Bear in mind this happened about 8 or 9 years ago, I might be barking uo the wrong tree! Worth a check though? Philtune |

Also just remembered this happens when the fuel overflows in the chamber - I don't recall having to set up the float, but the smallest amount of crap in the needle valve can cause this. Is the float free to move - or is it pinched? Philtune. |
