Then you are not insured - as simple as that.

Fortunately the police are getting quite good at catching this now... yes, even in rural Suffolk !!!

Three weeks ago when I had to go into Ipswich I passed no less than 7 ANPR cameras (4 auto, 3 manned) and 3 vehicles clamped at the roadside with big police stickers saying they were being towed away for crushing (or words to that effect).

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

you make me sick, if you smash into another car for going too fast. how are the other party going to make a claim when your insurance is void, you might aswell be uninsured.

im 17.

fully declared

4 pot brakes.
suspension modifications
interior modifications

1293cc engine
lightened internals
stright cut box
kent cams 296 cam shaft
stage 5 head
diffrent exaust.
120bhp

bottom line is, if you cant afford the insurance dont do the mod.

my insurance is around two grand

Alot of online quotes are a joke, especially if youre going to get insured on your car and you know its going to cost alot for your age, the premium goes bonkers and youre more likely to get a cheaper deal if you ring.

However online is great if youre of reasonable age and know your insurance wont be a massive blow.

At the moment my car has a std spec 1275 metro engine, all body mods declared etc, fully comp £170. Im 21 with 2 years no claims, (never claimed but ive been a named driver for 2 years dammit!)

The turbo conversion wont be tooo much more on the premium, definately not £1000, pays just to be that little bit older :/

I'm with Churchill online.

im 23 all declared with 4yncb

i pay 450 fully comp protected no clames with adrian flux

in my opinion if you dont declare whats the point in insurence you might as well bin you licence and set fire to your car

this was the most unoffensive way i could put this

Mine used to cost a few hundred quid when I was 20. It was insured as a turbo, all they seemed interested in was power increase over standard. Im paying £200 odd now with all mods declared (2 pages worth *hehe!* ). They hate me when I call them up and list the mods. Lol

I can understand why young drivers do this due to high premium costs etc but quite frankly, your insurance company will not cover you if you have a claim and you'll end up with a whole lot more trouble. The only 'benefit' you will have is that the ANPR cameras wont pick the car up as un-insured as such.

just make sure you stay away from me on the road
