I need saving from this normally aspirated nightmare I live in :) so can anyone help with rough costs so I can plan out my spend?

I've found a standard MG metro engine which will be be stripped, checked and rebuilt, so I'm thinking I need the following

Turbo head
Turbo pistons
Carb
Dizzy
T2 Turbo
Camshaft
mirage manifold
Exhaust
MPi Fuel tank complete with pump
Fuel regulator

What big/expensive bits have I missed, and what sort of costs am I looking at, either for new or s/h plus refurb costs?

Cheers

Neil

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

the mg cam is the same as the turbo

mg head will be fine for the job

might have an very good spi tank i can sell as im getting an alloy one sorted this winter hopefully.

Might have got a carb too but not 100%

Also im thinking (but not sure yet) that i might be selling a nearly new T2 off a silvia

If you want to come over and take any pics your more than welcome, you can have a drive as well if you like as mines now up and running.

Cheers, sounds like a plan :)

Let me know if you're about one evening next week and I'll pop over from work.

I thought the Turbo cam was the same as normal metro's, and the MG one had a more sporty profile?

heres a stab at it...

assuming you want a good 120-140 bhp

Turbo head - Morspeed stg 3 about £350

Turbo pistons - £200 plus about £50 for a rebore

Carb - new £250 or SH £20-40

Dizzy - any electronic metro dissy will do so £10-30

T2 Turbo - hmm tricky one £100 for an ebay snotter to £350 for an exhange rebuilt.

Camshaft - any spec is about £80 for a kit

mirage manifold - £350

Exhaust - depends on your taste £50-100

MPi Fuel tank complete with pump - its easier to modify a std tank! but a mpi one is about £80-100 I think.

Fuel regulator - New £38

so thats a total of £1473

EEEEKKKK!!

I spent 250 on an enigne all the bits to get it running, 350 on a head, 80 on an exh

so thats about 700odd for about 120bhp!!

since alex has covered the propper costs, ill just tell you mine....

complete engine with gearbox and all ancilleries and spare turbo £145

fuel pump and fpr, free from a mate of mine who was breaking a r5t

turbo box and oil pump, £70

fuel pipe, £5

tank- £5 to get a brave/stupid mate to weld up

thats about it at the moment that i can think of, im sure there is alot more though. as a side note, my entire car has/is actually been built to a very good standard i want to get the engine in and running and driving before i decide what to do with everything, however i do occasionally have a bit of luck, so if it comes good then i may all be ok, if not, then ill strip and redo the engine!

Hth a little bit...

Great, thanks for the help.

No mad rush so I can hopefully find some decent bits at reasonable prices.

Cheers
