Hi all, I have some minispares 1.5 roller tip rockers that I want to use on my 998. I have a 295 head I have installed them and I cant adjust two of the clearances, even with the adjuster all of the way out.
(The issue is with the tall valves, Morspeed had to mix the them when the head was re-built, they said as the 295's are no longer available, they had to mix them with 1275 valves)

I have checked the pedestal height and its the same as the one I have taken off. I was wondering if the cup on the push rod is a different size for a 1275 and that the ball of the adjuster wont fit in properly???

Thanks for any help.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

use 1275 push rods in combo with the tall valves.

no there longer to quote you
"I cant adjust two of the clearances, even with the adjuster all of the way out." if the adjuster is all the way out you will need a longer push rod to alow you screw the adjuster back in to obtain valve clearence on the taller 1275 valves.
regards,
Paul.

edit: because botain is spelled with a N not an L :$

Are they not for the rocker on the shaft not height?

Can you put washers under the rocker assembly to raise them a little?

no the shims are for under the rocker posts you may need to dubble up you cant put washers under the post as the oil is suplyed to the rocker acembly trough the rocker post.

Paul.

You could get some proper valves. They are easily available, only more expensive.

Can you confirm that you are checking two valves at at time, turning the engine through 180 degrees and then checking another two and so on.

Sounds obvious, but we had a plonker on here not long ago with the same problem. He had bolted it all up and was trying to set all eight with the engine in the same position.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

you can use 3 top rocker pedestal plates off another motor, i find this the best!

just remember to drill a hole in one for the oil feed to the rockers on the one near the thermostat side in the correct place *wink*

ive just bought some of these and have been told theyd need to be respaced for a small bore, i only thought it was the distance between rockers that need moving because of the different valve spacing of the big bore engine, so.
Question: do i trial fit them and measure how much the posts will need to be raised so the rockers are horizontal or what? thanks,
[hario]

I had to move them around to get better spacing on the valves, I ended up with all of the short sides next to the posts. I presume it will depend a bit on the head. Minispares do a spacer kit with shims for the rocker shaft. I had a go last night with some washers to see the diff but it put the push rod on an angle, so I just left it with re-organising the rockers on the shaft.

I think my adjustment problem was due to the mix of longer 1275 valves in my head.
