Hi everyone im gonna bite the bullet and go turbo. gonna try and construct a side mounted turbo like the janspeed jobby. Im just wondering if i can use my spare 998cc a plus as a mock up engine to save taking my 1293 a plus out, is there a difference with manifolds or anything ? just a thought, it would save alot of hassle only have a small garage !!Once built built im gonna port it over to my engine in the car.:) |

I think I'm right in saying the 998 block is shorter (in height) than the 1275 block.

from what i remember the only problem i can think of, with the 1275 the whole engine is around an inch taller therefore the cylinder head sits higher in relation to the gearbox you can use the 998 head to mock up the manifolds however if its going to be a side mount turbo the hight problem might come into play

it is 3/8" shorter than the 1275 - so bear this in mind when doind it.

you could put some washers on the head studs to space the head up a bit for manifold mock up? "Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun"
