finally my car is working but it fires then dies, the fuel pump works and fuel is reaching the carb i think it could be an air leak, the hose to the carb from the regulator is held on by one of those shit clips with 3 prongs is this enough? i can actually rev the car but only if i keep turning the key to pos 3 and flooring it, the exhaust didnt half bloody pop thogh! any ideas could it be cos i have no anti run on valve etc

sounds like some sort of electrical fault if you have to keep turning key to position 3

make sure the fuel pump is staying on when the key is in pos 2

you can increase boost either by changing the actuator or using a bleed valve. Search the forum as there is loads on how to do this.

Check that you have power at the coil when the ignition is on position 2, if not there is a wiring fault.

Also check you fuel pump is working on position two, or for testing purposes put in a switch to turn the pump on all the time.
But before you do this double check the fuel pipes are on the correctly, or you may fill the engine with fuel if there on wrong!

Have you adjusted the valve clerences?

If the distributor is to far advanced / retarded it can cause poping in the exhaust / carb. - In this case mark the distributer and position and try advancing or retarding the distributor.

Also get some proper fuel pipe clamps on those fuel lines!
